Usually when I think "architectural achievement" I think "smart solution to difficult problem". But this building IS the problem. I'm a believer in avant garde architecture and I do think there is some value to large, costly buildings in some circumstances. But this is on a scale that's just plain gross. I'm not impressed. This is not an achievement.

I think it's the best thing there amidst all the excess and waste. The sheik did good with this one. How they placed the top spire on the thing is something that baffles me.
