even if there are some flaws in the project (wich i agree there are) it is an interesting concept and idea, and the graphics are not as bad as you say... they could be better of course, but they are not the main focus of architecture (even considering that this is a "visual profession" as mencioned here)...
and notice, i'm not defending the project i just think you are being to hard and inflexible and sounding a bit arrongant... sorry...
you can, and should! criticize, but in a constructive way, not being unpleasant...
you sound like (most of) my architecture college teachers...! they allways treat students whit disrespect and aparently think of themselves as being perfect and the greatest architects with nothing else to learn... and that is - in my opinion of course - a sing of unwisdom...
oh well... sorry for my 40 page comment... take care.

the people claiming that a project can only be good if the images are worked on to the very last degree of realism are the same people that will say that a movie can only be good only if it has special effects.

Why you just pay attention in the renders? This site is about architecture, not drawing.
Good projects are backed by good ideas, and this project, in my opinion, it does. And if we (students or architects) only keep images, what good is this profession? What makes us different from others?

a lot of people making out! funny!! lol

but its an interristing aproach, but bad inner spaces were created (in my pont of view). not the interior but the inner courts - too dark and you can´t do anything in there...

postmodernism says that anything goes, but we passed that, i think. more and more smart architecture will come...

Ah come on, you guys are being close mided and traditional. This is student housisng after all, it think the ethos (granted not the quality) of these renderings and the design is spot on for current youth culture. Look around: Punchy graphics, skin deep, product placement, fashion, sex sells, form for forms sake, image based architecture. Arent we taugh that architecture should grow up from its time and place? Postmodernism says anything goes, so stop complaining, Architecture with a capital A is not the only answer. Say goodbye to mies and corb and embrace beyonce and britney.

and that's conspicuously missing too.

look, if you cheapen your Architecture with poor representation, how is that justified? because the underlying idea is so great that you can afford to dumb-out on the renderings with bad entourage? this is a visual profession, especially in the proposal portions. often its the only thing you get out of a project--especially a Competition (which this was).

if it has its own Architectural legs to stand on, then why the disorienting and garish renderings? why hurt yourself graphically if you have a great idea behind all the flash?
