The roof shape recalls the chamfered windows inside the Cathedral and acts like a scupper to direct rain water to a splash block.

The lobby area is unconditioned, but if buffered by the thermal mass of the structure. The adjacent retail, lounge, restrooms, and offices are conditioned.

The stair has heated treads to melt snow and ice and a trench drain at the bottom collects the water.

I like it, a respectful project for the site.

I might as well ask out loud this, maybe someone knows something:

1- what drives the roof shape on the elevator towers.

2- It seems like there's no strict control of the HVAC in the lobby area, at least there's no apparent enclosure for the stairs, most of the A/C during summers, or heat during winters could be lost.

3-regarding the same access stair, is there a drainage we don't see in the pictures?, how to control rain or accumulated snow during the winter from getting into the lobby area? (the stairs doors are more like a gate, not really weather tight, I might be wrong though)

Nice project, another excuse to visit that cathedral sometime soon.
