“Amsterdamse School” was exactly the first thing that popped in my mind to when looking at this building.

Never knew a corridor entrance was typical dutch, these floor plans are very standard/common.

lol archilocus...

Yes, the apartments seems to be designed that way, not because of the atrium taking over space, but actually they wanted to have the living/dining on the other side of the entrances.

Maybe it's a local code or just a cultural thing, but if it works for them, that's ok. Personally, I would agree with daniel, I would have fliped all the apartments, so you enter through the social areas.

The building stepping is amazing, and the curves works wonders.

The atrium is just gorgeous, however, it seems like they will have the lights on 24/7, there's erlaly not much daylight inside in such a small opening, but then again, maybe that's the dramatic effect they wanted, just a small light canon at the top.

congrats to the architects.

I suddenly felt a bit of science fiction inspired this building, or even stories like The Fountainhead, with a heavy sculptural feel to it, brilliant. The curved corners made me think JJP Oud or early Breuer. Good project.

I understand what you mean Daniel. Actually I felt the same while working in the Netherlands, but it seems very common there to enter through private areas, well at least it is not for them as much as a problem as it is in France.... First time I said "this doesn't work, you're passing through the bedrooms", everybody at the office looked at me like if I was E.T.
The stepping void is beauty.

This is in my hometown, the location is actually Enschede, not Amsterdam. They are building a lot of cool things in the district, not block after block with the same style of houses, as they normally do in the Netherlands. It’s not totally finished yet, but it’s gonna be a great area to live in.
