The (well of light) concept suits the enormous need for daylight in such a building teaching art..
light is an art by itself & integrating it in a building in not only providing a healthy environment but also a tool teaching art of nature!

Steven Holl is always amazing with his lighting techniques!

i have to say – the Elder & Cannon visualisation is the most accurate representation of glasgow – dark and rainy!

Salvadore, the art school set up a site for the staff and students to view the entries however due to the nature of the viewer it was impossible to download the images, perhaps over then next few weeks images will emerge…

i heard alot about The Mac architecture school an thats why im curious whats happening! the text says its an international design competition…. and i would love to see more. maybe a link or something on some student blog…

Salvadore, the competition was the selection of a design team not a design proposal. The section serves to demonstrate an approach inspired by CRM’s work on the existing art school.

As a student at the Mack I look forward to seeing this develop over the next few years, there were a number of Glasgow and UK practices in the final five, however it is my opinion that this was the strongest entry. Well done to Holl and JM Architects.

Supercharged, intelligent, great.
Light and shadow just the perfect recipe from our fantastic Louis Khan to make any building become a unique sensorial experience for our senses. I am glad to see that Holl is still into experimenting with high impact and user experience as a mean to channel enjoyment of a building.

Great work…Holl you still have 100 more years to keep on going…I cannot wait to see what is next.

It all started carving gypsum board…wow…!!! (holl knows what I am talking about)
