From the architect. Building 16 is located in the central region of the Campus next to buildings 05, 06, 15 and 20, and is intended to be used by the Central Library of PUCRS; it will have a total area of 20,004.00 m2. The work includes the reformation of the existing library measuring 8,831.30 m2 and expansion in the center of the building with 11,172.70m2, distributed in a 14-story tower.

The ground floor contains the cultural and coexistence space (university memorial, exhibition area, study room and cafe), FIJO’s service, DELL’s laboratory, the technical processing of the library, volumes custody, control and historic collection.

The dynamic collection will be concentrated on the second floor with respective reading areas and study rooms.

The newspaper room, multimedia and video/movie libraries will be located on the third floor, besides the respective reading areas and study rooms.

On the fourth floor, the support/data processing center, concentration point and switchboard of the building will be located, besides giving access to ice shelters and central thermal air conditioning.

The management center, direction, secretariat, coordination, etc.; of the library will be located on the fifth floor.

Special collections, collections of rare works, with respective reading areas, in addition to study rooms for master’s and doctoral and undergraduate research will be located from the 6th. to the 13th. floors.

The fourteenth floor is for the hall of council of PUCRS.

And, finally, utilities, such as machine room and upper tanks will be located on the 15th. floor.

I just don´t get it. What was the point of posting this type of project here. Nothing special, not even in one perspective. That roof plan doesn´t fit at all. Actually, nothing does. Besides,is the building itself not quite really looked after or is it the way it was built? Anyway. It is bad. Just an average building... Doesn´t attract me as an example of brazilian architecture whatsoever.
