Designed by architect Dina Hadi, the proposal for the Beirut Multi Art Use project represents a total art mass from the city with different rhythms and patterns. It becomes a live scene from local artists that is captured into this box. With a focus on art as a foundation base for cultures, this project becomes a model for global art beyond. Her study was also awarded the best prize at the Oslo School of Architecture under the title, ‘Excellence in Professionalism’. More images and architects’ description after the break.

The MAU project is a house of art and culture that is a home for all artists in the city. It’s a house that wants to belong through the spontaneity of its shape, to the citizens of Beirut and to global art beyond. The project aims to create an open space of culture and art works beyond boundaries. Most cultural and art institution are traditionally designed and spatially introvert. This space will provide an open atmosphere of sharing and exchanging art, short term studies, workshops and a global connection to the west through the international gallery spaces that project offer and through some visiting studios for the international artist. The project will be a landmark of art in Beirut and Middle East as a first multi art use space.

She started her idea with viewing the different artists of the community into one box. On one screen in another perspective, this screen has a captured live scenes for the city statement of art. This box is a total of the Lebanese art, showing inside the complexity of capturing the different kinds, melodies, and harmonies of art into one art mass that is open to all, into a cultural base layer of our community.
