Artem - An Iconic Educational Project
Artem is short for ‘art, technology, management’, a multidisciplinary alliance between universities, bringing together three of Nancy’s prestigious higher education institutions in order to develop a unified educational system and shared projects: The École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Nancy (ENSA), the École des Mines pour la technologie (ENSMN), and the ICN Business School.

This groundbreaking initiative exemplifies creativity and the integration of new technologies and managerial concepts. A century after the Nancy School artistic movement, the ARTEM project emerges with the promise of a new culture of networking, partnership and collaborative projects.

The Artem Concept : The Street Gallery
The Gallery project embodies the true spirit of Artem. It has been designed to fit in with the history and scope of Nancy’s key monuments, such as Place Stanislas, Place Carrière or Cours Léopold, and responds to the scale and style of the city and the surrounding neighbourhood and streets. The gallery is 300 metres in length, and plays a structural and unifying role, connecting together the schools and their shared resources.

Each school has a street address in the gallery yet retains its own style and identity. The glass façade evokes the dynamism of innovation and research, and a variation in styles inspired by the Nancy School. The Gallery is both a focus for student living and a brand new public space. It is set to become a key focal point for the city, unique in its dimensions and spatial qualities. As the symbolic heart of Artem, the Gallery is a spectacular and cosmopolitan environment.
