The project is located in the suburban foothills of Santiago at 880 meters above sea level. It’s on a corner site of 1,500 m2 facing northwest.
The number of meters built, which were requested as part of the brief, covered almost half the area of the site.
The different zones of this relatively conventional program are visually related to each other, to shorten the physical distance between and encourage greater interaction among inhabitants.
On the outside, the house has a more severe look, with more controlled framing and views to block the gaze of neighbors and the noise from nearby streets.
The house has 3 exceptional elements: a shady patio of 10 x 10 meters, a beam bridge suspended over the patio, and a palatial entrance hall where the main staircase is located.
The choice of using concrete, with identical details for the interior and exterior of the house, gives the project a coherence that homogenizes the diversity of volumes and spaces. Thus, it emphasizes the structure and the contrast between open and opaque facades.
All the spaces of the house are arranged around the central 10 x 10 patio. The house has two floors; the common spaces are located on the first floor and the private spaces on the second floor.
Looking from the house to the city, 800 meters to the northwest, you can see the Chapel of the Benedictine Monastery of the neighborhood of Las Condes.
