Rainman, the history shows that all architects change their basic beliefs and visions at a certain point.

See the early works of foster, le Corbusier, Isenman, you name it. You will find that they all started off with some kind of vision, they defended it, fought for it, and then at the end they changed it completely.

Wright started off with the environmental sensibility, and horizontal extensions and suspended slabs, and after all he ended up his career with this vertical project. Also le Corbusier started off with all the cubism and pure basic forms, along with the horizontal windows. Again he thought he should change it all, when he designed his Notre-Dame church.

And last but not least, Isenman whose original work was known to be “neo-corbusian” with white cubism, and strictly regular rectangular grids; he now is one of the masters of deconstructivism.

I love how all the renderings show 88th Street as crossing into Central Park. Not one rendering was done with any nod to the context of the surroundings in any way. Everything I've ever learned about FLW illustrated his respect for the environment. I wonder what Central Part meant for him here, if anything.
