Located in a land about 80 hectares in Tehran, the design for the Army Residential Complex by Hootanpei was chosen in an architectural competition. With the contractor’s demand of 28-30 towers with 20-30 floors, the most important factor of design was minimum interference between pathways and driving ways and also suitable green places to create comfort and welfare for residents. More images and architects’ description after the break.

The concept of project, which has a 1,000,000sqm area, was formed based on an external loop. All the buildings have access by this loop and in the middle there is an opening. In the next level of design, because of the buildings excessive height and in order to create a nice view, this prevents an unusual view and add to the central space, we have built each building on the 5 stories platform. The above modifications, give an advantage that shorter (5 stories) buildings can be seen first from the central space, then the point of view of the higher height towers are seen in a further point, the above adjustment on the platform would also improve the view in a central space.

The general idea of the exterior view is based on moving shutters, which control the light angle and save the energy. The green architecture was desired in this project, and green terraces on the roof of the five-floor building make a good view on top. These roof gardens divided into public, private and semi-private ones. Totally, the main idea of this design is using the natural resources and eco-friendly architecture and save the energy.
