Toyo is really hitting his stride...For me, this building is most successful in how it seems to achieve complex results via simple means. There are some great images of what looks to be the 'attic' space blow the roof on Mr. Baan's website...

The Cor-Ten toned interiors are great...

As an Architecture student, I had the privilege of meeting Toyo Ito at his Tokyo office in December 2007. Their was a group of us from our university in New Zealand who got to meet him and he showed us this project as well as a few competition projects that he was currently working on. He is amazing and his staff are really talented. He told us that this buildings form was generated by the negative space between a cluster of over lapping spheres or bubbles. Also the mock models for the Taichung Metropolitan Opera House were to die for!

Personally, I always like Toyo Ito's works. Almost all of them are very original and very creative. For example, you can see the originality of his work especially in Taichung Metropolitan Opera House, Taiwan and Berkeley Museum, California. I am betting he will be the 2010 recipient of Pritzker prize.

I wish our precious ArchDaily team could post the above mentioned projects.

And always thank you, ArchDaily for posting unique projects.

I like the portal windows into the cafe, could be a bit of glare though.

Does anyone know in the bottom interior shot, what the cavity in the wall between the glazing does? Is it part of the ventilation system?
