International architectural practice Swanke Hayden Connell has won the international competition commissioned by Tahincioglu Gayrimenkul (Tahincioglu Real Estate) for the Palladium Tower in Istanbul, Turkey. The 49,500 sq meter tower will be situated on a 1.7 hectare site. The project is due for completion in 2014.

The office building was designed with office spaces arranged around a central core with floor plates between 900 and 1100 sq meters. Each level includes a naturally ventilated landscaped atria. A two-storey reception lobby is situated off a landscaped drop off area and is connected to meeting rooms, fitness, sauna, spa and cafeteria areas. Parking is provided below ground.

The facade maximizes daylight, while insulating against heat gain. Horizontally oriented colored glass gives an uninterrupted panoramic views of the Bosphorous Sea. Nick Birchall, head of Swanke Hayden Connel says, “The tower has been split by the landscaped atria zones into a composition of elegant stacked forms, working with orthogonal geometry to ensure floor plate efficiency and overall building economy. Façade colour adds interest and expression, whilst external illumination emphasises the building’s composition at night.”
