Architects: f451 Arquitectura
Location: Cardedeu, Barcelona, Spain
Design team: Santiago Ibarra, Toni Montes, Lluis Ortega, Xavier Osarte, Esther Segura
Quantity Surveyor: Teresa Vivó
Structure: J.M. Riba de Palau
Mechanical: Prisotec
Landscape: Teresa Gali-Izard
Project Year: 2005
Photographs: José Hevia

This proposal is based on the redefinition of ready-made components and their assembly to try to optimize the environmental performance of the building as well as the possibility of recycling used elements. The building was based on dry construction, except the ground, and formally displayed in such a way that increases its capability to interact with the surroundings-both architecturally and environmentally.

There IS a certain beauty here. Certainly, the designers are competent. But, sadly, it is one of the more sterile and soulless structures I’ve seen in some time. Perhaps it has something to do with the surrounding environment. I’m not certain. But, for sure, I could never exist in this structure… it is complete devoid of humanity. I’m sorry to say that.

I think you need to wait until the plantings grow into the trellis and walls, furniture is added and the courtyard is inhabited before you condemn it like that.
