Text description provided by the architects. The single-family one storey Grândola housing, implanted in the hillside of a Monte Alentejano, all painted in white, is located over a schist stone plinth. This allows the circulation all over the building perimeter. As the roof has the same horizontal projection as the schist stone plinth, it allows the partial shading of the habitable area, working as an horizontal solar protection.

The chimney breaking through the roof work sat the same time as a fire place chimney and an entrance for zenithal light into the living room making this a place of “comfort and cumplicity”.
