Katanaman I can assure that I was not dropped on my head at birth. I have written extensively on the work of Zumthor this last year prior to the Pritzker Prize or any other award. It on this basis that I have to disagree with you. I shall use Zumthor's chapel at Sogn Benedegt as an example. This is a single room provided to a hamlet community for the purpose of worship. Within this one room volume he has invested such quality of materials, construction, and atmosphere. I can assure that when sat in this building it does not lack heart and it reveals Zumthor to be the talent he is.

When I heard Zumthor talk recently at the RIBA I can understand why his buildings are so successful. He places heart and soul into the design process. Long after many have given up and headed for CAD and 3D to design their building Zumthor remains ardent in the pursuance of the perfect sketch to represent the perfect final result. Only when he has this does technology take over. I can see in his sketches that he does not lack talent at the most basic level.

Perhaps you could qualify your comment so that I may understand your perspective?

'lacking talent at the most basic level'?! there are not many architects working as careful as zumthor, which doesn't make him immune to critiques, but you should definitely be a little more specific!
