This week AD On The Streets takes you to the architecturally dense city of Tokyo, Japan to visit M2, the first major commission of japanese renowned architect Kengo Kuma.
The 4,482.15sqm building was completed in 1991, and it was designed as Matsuda’s (Mazda) car salesroom. It now operates as a funeral hall. More images available on Flickr. Post modernism to the max.

…wow
ouch, looks like a rough start.
based on its current use, its a shame it wont fit within itself. im glad the rest of kumas work is dissimilar.
Fantastic!
this is awesome
dislike! I don’t exactly get it!
WTF?
Scary – new postmodern can make pastiche only stronger, but how can be stronger if 90% of clients already want it!?
I am glad he got a second chance as an architect after looking at his other projects, but I hope he has trouble sleeping at night knowing what an abomination he has inflicted on the world
well… it’s a look.
this is the ugliest building i ever seen. don´t worry post-modernist architects, after this everything else will always looks fine.
