Beton Hala Waterfront Center Proposal / office ReduX

With the general aim to create an integrated urban infrastructure, the proposal for the Beton Hala Waterfront competition by office ReduX creates a way to produce a provocative architectural vision. As programs, spaces and typologies are interwoven, this center is a vision of the future progression of Belgrade as a hub for business and culture. As a result, this allows residents and visitors to experience an ultimate experience of the past, present, and future. More images and architects’ description after the break.

This center, however, is not an isolated monument, but an extended city fabric forming a continuous space for the exhibition, commercial and service areas, as well as an outdoor landscape which bleeds into the surroundings. Therefore, the site is divided into a series of bundles to create a malleable urban fabric that is able to conform to deformations of the land, topography, and spatial restrictions.

The stratified site extends into the surrounding nature allowing connection to several critical points. The bifurcated landscape is stretched and squeezed to produce different pedestrian and bike pathway and openings for natural lighting within building. The softly swaying pattern of lines that defines the paths as well as the built fabric will allow the mediation and integration of the various components around the site.
