Winning Entry for Design Matters 2 Ideas Competition / Ali Musavi

Ali Musavi was announced winner of Design Matters 2 Ideas Competition for the proposal seen here.  The competition called for a design of a building block with an inclusive school environment that uniquely enhances the quality of life for teens and adults with disabilities who participate in the Easter Seals VIP Academy in ,  Florida.

The competition called for the utilization of the following:

  • Access
  • Space
  • Sensory Awareness
  • Enhancing Learning
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Health and well-being
  • Safety and Security
  • Technology
  • Sustainability

The building block had to accomodate the following functions:

  • Gym/Fitness Center
  • Model residential apartment
  • Outdoor access
  • Greenhouse
  • Small group spaces
  • Individual study areas
  • Personal Care and Therapy
  • Technology Integration
  • Storage (for physical disability aids, etc.)

    Certainly looks like the designer gave the project some deep thought in terms of sustainability and design…Great project!

    Not to be a troll or anything but this project looks outdated…I mean rounded corners and stripes are not doing it for me anymore in 2012…apart from that the schematics are good…
