The Municipal Sports Centre in by Na3 Studio di Architettura is a building that aims to redevelop the site within which it is situated. Currently in disuse, the architects use a clear set of materials to establish an architectural presence for a public program that will give benefit to the entire city of Ladispoli with minimal environmental impact.

Steel, concrete and glass are the main ingredients for the Sports Center: support, containment and transparency. The building is marked from the exterior by a green ribbon that traces the movement of the architecture through the facility. Designed with clear geometries, it enhances the relationship between the outside and inside by creating visual connections between the programs within and the environment outside.

Every interior space is designed to have an external connection to the street, where a total view of the landscape is visible. The building, as a container, is based on the functional requirements of the different programs, aimed at providing security, comfort and maximum flexibility in accomodating various sports.

The structure is composed of partially prefabricated concrete and steel pillars and trusses and covered with corrugated steel. The color palette chosen for the structure is green in order to establish a dialogue for the adjacent park and landscape. Particular attention was paid to using renewable energy sources providing 720 square meters of photovoltaic panels, thus making the structure self-sustaining.

I would love to see this happen and to re-qualify the site. It would be wonderful to be able to do sports there in future. Looking forward to it. I think Ladispoli would truly benefit from this architectural work.
