Swirling to the Power of Three: New Technologies in Vortex Flushes

For three years now, Villeroy & Boch has been implementing the TwistFlush vortex flush technology in selected toilets. This innovative flushing technology harnesses the physical force of the swirl to optimize flushing performance and toilet hygiene. Two nozzles generate a powerful water vortex, which cleans nearly the entire inner surface of the toilet and pulls all dirt residue into the drain with its strong suction. Coupled with the conical geometry and extra-smooth walls of the bowl, this makes repeated flushes and the use of the toilet brushes practically unnecessary. Compared to conventional flushes, this innovation is also particularly water-saving, making a significant contribution to resource conservation.

A Cost-Effective Technology

With TwistFlush[e³], the brand has further developed its pioneering flush technology, taking into consideration the special requirements of public and commercial sanitary facilities as well as the housing construction sector. The toilet flush sets new standards in terms of thoroughness, efficiency, ease of cleaning and cost-effectiveness. Especially in project construction, toilets must not only meet the highest performance and hygiene criteria, but also be economical and affordable. Although, vortex flushes have so far only been available in the upper price segment, TwistFlush[e³] makes this innovative technology available for the first time in an accessible price range. For clients and property operators, the product innovation pays off in three ways: as indicated by its additional designation—e³ stands for evolutionary, economic, and efficient—it offers high-quality toilet flushing at an affordable price, delivers excellent flushing results with significantly lower water consumption and noticeably reduces cleaning effort.

Resource-Saving Flushing Solution

The benefits of TwistFlush[e³] have already been confirmed by independent testing authorities such as the wfk Institute for Applied Research. Various tests have shown that the physical force of the water vortex, the precise, highly positioned water flow and the conical bowl shape ensure thorough and nearly residue-free flushing, making rinsing practically unnecessary. Moreover, the toilet flush exceeds the requirements of the European standard EN997 in terms of flushing performance by more than ten times. The tests also proved that the resource-saving solution effectively helps to reduce operating costs. At just three litres for a small flush and 4.5 litres for a large flush, it is significantly more water-efficient than conventional toilet flushes. A company with 1,000 employees can save up to 675,000 litres of water per year as a result.

Time- and Cost-Saving Cleaning

The quick and uncomplicated cleaning of toilets equipped with this flush technology opens up further savings opportunities for companies. Here too, the tests showed that the combination of powerful vortex flushing and intelligently designed bowl architecture ensures almost complete surface flushing, which leaves virtually no residue and significantly reduces the cleaning effort. According to test results, a toilet with TwistFlush[e³], thanks to its rimless design, can be cleaned twice as quickly as a comparable model from the manufacturer with conventional flushing and a rim. Thanks to this time saving, a company like Villeroy & Boch, with approximately 6,400 employees, can save more than 16,000 euros in cleaning costs annually.

Four Wall-Hung Models

TwistFlush[e³] is available as part of the Architectura collection, which has been specially developed for projects with high demands on flexibility and cost-effectiveness. As one of the manufacturer's largest complete bathroom collections, the range offers design options for every layout and budget. To coincide with the introduction of the new flushing technology, the purist design of the collection has undergone a visual relaunch, refreshing the geometric design language and making it appear lighter and more modern. Highlights of the collection include the four wall-hung and rimless toilets with vortex flush technology. They are optionally available with the new concealed ViFix mounting solution, which is quick and easy to install using the mounting holes for the toilet seat, as well as in a standard projection and a compact version in white Alpine. For additional hygiene, the four models are also available with the dirt-repellent or antibacterial surfaces CeramicPlus and AntiBac.
